“Limu” refers to types of edible seaweed or algae in Hawaiian. These types of plants are part of a balanced diet in Polynesian (and probably many other) households. Growing up, I loved having seaweed in soup!
These green Czech glass beads reminded me of some of the underwater sea grasses, like limu ‘ele ‘ele or sea asparagus (a favorite crunchy, salty snack)! The green beads are free moving, just as blades of limu are underwater.
Sterling silver and Czech glass.
